Rusik- the first Russian Police Sniffer Kat at Stravopol

Introducing the First ever Russian Police Sniffer Kat. (Now, that’s my kind of kat)!

Rusik entered a police checkpoint one day in 2002. He was adopted by the staff, and soon afterward they discovered his ability to sniff out the stashes of sturgeon smugglers! He was so accurate, that he quickly replaced the police dog used before him!

Unfortunately, his career didn’t last very long- he died in the line of duty on July 12, 2003, when he was hit by a  car (owned by the Mafia) during an inspection. There is speculation that his death was a Mafia hit, (seriously, dudes…) because he had previously sniffed out some sturgeon in the same car.

He died after only one year of service.

Yet another example of a highly intelligent kat (like myself), who is far more than “just a kat!”

Paws up to Officer Rusik!

Yes, please do check out the others…. Hope you enjoy them all!

The human had never known about these pawsome relatives of mine, so I started this series to educate her. I have to teach this lady everything!

    • Yes, our family grieved fur a long time. But he makes our whole family look good.

I’m sure they looked the other way while he ate his fill of the stash…(how much could he eat at once anyway)? They were really fond of him. And I’m sure they paid him in sturgeon!

      (I wouldn’t mind a job like that)!

  • High Five for Officer Rusik! Of course, all the dogs working out there could be replaced by a Kat … but cats are smarter (ie not having to work for food and lodging). Thanks for teaching your human on this blog so we can ALL learn! =^.^=
